Anatomy Scan Update

The two tiny humans are mini-me's. Two Girls!!!

I am in shock. I was so sure it would be Boy/Girl or two boys. I never thought it would be two girls.

Apparently, I was wrong!

I feel so much better now. I am ready to get their names nailed down.

Hospital Paperwork

Today, I filled out all my pre-admission paperwork and the birth certificate forms for both babies. They are not due back to the hospital until 26 weeks, but I thought I should get them done now while I am thinking about it. Especially seeing as how I JUST realized both my vehicle registration and inspection stickers were expired by 2 months. Yikes! I did that today too.

I also registered for my Preparation for Childbirth Class and Cesarean Section Class. They say you should take these around 28-32 weeks but it makes me nervous to wait that long. And there weren't that many options for when to take the Cesarean Section class.

Preparation for Childbirth is 3 Wednesday nights in a row from 7-10. THat sounded much better to me than the all day Saturday class. I go to class 8/8. 8/15 and 8/22. My Cesarean Section class is 9/15 from 11:30 - 3:30. Both classes include hospital tours so I am looking forward to that.

And of course I am getting super anxious for  Tuesday to get here and hoping to find out the sexes of the babies!!!

17 Weeks

Wow - finally made it to 17 weeks. It's kind of cool. Not really a whole lot to report. I think I am starting to feel some sort of movement, but it's not well defined. It kind of feels like pulling or just bubbles.

I am still experiencing a lot of hip, tailbone and pelvic pain but it does seem to be getting better, slowly.

My next OB appointment is Tuesday when hopefully I will get to find out the sexes of the babies. I am getting anxious and I want to know. I have no idea how people go through an entire pregnancy without finding out.

I am a planner. I need to know the sexes so I can get their names nailed down. That is what is killing me right now. I have them about 95% picked out, but I am just not sure. I think it will be much easier to  commit to a name once I know for sure the sex.

And of course, I am ready to start shopping.

I think I am finally starting to gain weight. Probably only about 3-5 lbs so far, but it's something. I don't want to gain a lot, but I want to gain something so I feel like I am doing all I can to help my babies grow.

Baby continues to beef up. Now she's about 5.1 inches long and weighs about 5.9 ounces.

your baby at 17 weeks
  • Her rubbery cartilage is now turning to bone.
  • And she's growing some meat on those bones -- putting on some fat.
  • She's growing a stronger, thicker umbilical cord, too.

16 Weeks

Wow, I can't believe we are finally to 16 weeks. I feel like I have come so far, but I still have such a long way to go.

The biggest problem I am having these days is that I think I have SPD. I have gotten some great referrals for Chiropractors who work with pregnant women. I am going to call tomorrow. This pain is out of control. I have resorted to ice packs.

Now, she's about 4.6 inches long and weighs about 3.5 ounces, and she's big enough that your doctor may be able to hear her heartbeat.

your baby at 16 weeks
  • She's listening to your voice, thanks to tiny bones forming in her ears.
  • She's growing hair, lashes and eyebrows.
  • And she's forming taste buds.

15 Weeks

Sorry I am a little late this week. I have been switching out my computer to a MacBook Pro and it has not been a smooth of a transition as I would like for it to be. I do love the new computer though. It just takes some getting used to.

Here we are at 15 weeks. Not really much a change in symptoms or anything. My tailbone is still really bothering me. I think I am going to have to breakdown and go see a Chiropractor soon. I am not sure I can take this kind of pain for another 23 weeks.

The average fetus at 15 weeks weighs 2.5 ounces and measures 4 inches -- and his proportions are becoming even more normal, since his legs now outmeasure his arms.

your baby at 15 weeks
  • You probably can't feel it yet, but she's squirming a ton!
  • She might even be hiccuping in there.
  • She's making lots of progress: her joints and limbs can all move now.

14 Weeks

Hello second trimester! I can't believe I finally made it. 14 weeks. It seems like so long, yet I know I still have 24 more weeks to go.

I saw my OB on Tuesday and we officially scheduled my C-Section with the hospital for 12/19. I can't believe I have a date. Obviously they can come before then, but I know they will be here on or before 12/19. My little Christmas babies!

your baby's the size of a lemon!
At week 14, your baby is 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces, he's almost doubled in weight since last week and keeps on growing.

your baby at 14 weeks
  • He's probably sucking his thumb and wiggling his toes in there!
  • His kidneys are making urine, and his liver and spleen are doing their jobs, too.
  • And he's growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over his body -- it will help him keep warm!

New Sonogram Images

These were taken at my OB appointment today at 13w5d. Both babies are measuring on track at 13w6d. Baby A has a heart rate of 135 and Baby B is 142.

Lookin' good kiddos!

I also made the big Facebook announcement today. Finally! I have almost slipped several times. I am glad it is finally all out there.
